The Digital Boardwalk Difference

Our People

Our culture of continuous growth and opportunity attracts some of the best talent the industry has to offer. Every year, thousands of users commend our team for their professionalism, aptitude, and friendliness.

Focus on Process

Technology and cybersecurity change far too often and quickly to rely on “head knowledge.” With hundreds of standard operating procedures, and routine quality audits, our processes keep us accountable to our promises.

Artificial Intelligence

By leveraging our own, custom-developed artificial intelligence systems, we consistently deliver all the IT and cybersecurity functions that our competition omits due to a lack of budget and manpower.

Commitment to Innovation

Our founders, having both grown up in military families, learned to embrace change from an early age. That commitment to constant improvement and innovation has been baked into our culture and is core to our very being.

Our Story

1995
Hollywood

Following his service in the U.S. Navy, Digital Boardwalk's CEO, Tim Shoop, moves to Los Angeles, California to pursue his childhood dream of acting. However, with all the energy coming out of the tech industry in California at this time, and his background in telecommunications with the Navy, Tim finds himself driven to one of the fastest growing IT companies in the area to begin his career in technology.

1999
New Vision Computers

Inspired by the entrepreneurial spirit of Silicon Valley and armed with several years of experience providing IT services to the film industry and multiple Fortune 500 companies, Tim decides to move back home and launch a new IT company: New Vision Computers. Although focused primarily on consumer IT services, New Vision Computers secures multiple large government contracts and quickly expands its reach into the business sector.

2007
An idea is born

After eight years of success, Tim foresees a major industry change on the horizon. He realizes the widespread adoption of broadband internet and the advent of remote support technologies is an opportunity to deliver IT services with a whole new, proactive approach.

2008
Behind the red door

Brian Wilkey, New Vision Computers' lead technician, joins Tim Shoop to work on a new business model for what will ultimately become managed IT services. A glorified hallway is walled off inside the New Vision Computer retail store. Behind a red door and adjacent to a public restroom, Tim and Brian work tirelessly on the systems and services, with a strict focus on disrupting the industry through automation, proactivity, and unparalleled customer service.

2009
Digital Boardwalk incorporation

After 18 months of rigorous research, development, systems integration, and public beta testing, Digital Boardwalk officially incorporates and begins providing services to customers. Purpose-built as a Managed Services Provider ("MSP") and founded on the core principles of proactivity and quick response time, Digital Boardwalk leaves behind the break-fix, reactive culture of New Vision Computers that would soon hold back many competitors in the space.

2010
Healthcare IT

Following an acquisition of one of its large medical practices by Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), Digital Boardwalk helps HCA integrate the medical practice into its enterprise network. Impressed by Digital Boardwalk's capabilities, operational maturity, and focus on cybersecurity, HCA engages with Digital Boardwalk as its primary IT service provider for acquisitions throughout the Florida panhandle. Healthcare IT quickly becomes Digital Boardwalk's specialty, serving medical practices and facilities for numerous hospital networks throughout the state.

2013
Central Florida expansion

Unhappy with its regional service providers in the Central Florida area, HCA offers Digital Boardwalk several more contract opportunities if it can establish a physical presence in the region. Digital Boardwalk's co-founder and COO, Brian Wilkey, returns to his home of Lakeland, Florida and continues the company's rapid growth trajectory.

2016
A technology cooperative

After many years successfully supporting a large mutual customer base, Digital Boardwalk establishes a technology cooperative through a vested partnership with CPC Office Technologies, a regional leader in office and print technologies since 1972. Leveraging CPC's established presence in multiple markets throughout the Southeast United States, Digital Boardwalk sees exponential growth as it delivers its groundbreaking managed IT services to these new regions.

2018
A company to watch

Digital Boardwalk lands on the prestigious Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies in America. Shortly thereafter, GrowFL recognizes Digital Boardwalk as one of the top 50 companies in Florida to pay attention to for its industry-leading growth and success. Digital Boardwalk will later continue to climb the Inc. 5000 list for five consecutive years, as well as be the recipient of dozens of other industry awards and recognitions.

2021
Microsoft Gold

A status neither Tim nor Brian could have imagined possible back when they started the company, Digital Boardwalk earns the rare and coveted Gold Partner designation by Microsoft, a status that less than 1% of the partners in the world ever attain. The competency is a testament to Digital Boardwalk's consistent ability to help businesses grow and succeed with Microsoft at scale.

2022
Texas expansion

Following the rapid economic growth of Texas post-pandemic, Digital Boardwalk's CTO, James Todd, relocates to Houston, Texas to expand the company's existing operations in the region. Although a market already saturated with competition, Digital Boardwalk's unique service offering and position in the industry allows it to quickly expand throughout Texas.

2022
A worldwide leader

After steadily climbing the Channel Futures MSP 501 list for seven straight years, Digital Boardwalk is ranked #8 out of the 150,000+ managed services providers worldwide. The recognition is an incredible honor and a demonstration of Digital Boardwalk's ability to continuously innovate in an ever-changing industry.

2023
Microsoft Solutions Partner

Following numerous changes to Microsoft's AI Cloud Partner Program designed to distinguish truly world-leading partners from the rest, Digital Boardwalk attains the exclusive Microsoft Solutions Partner designation. A remarkably difficult status to reach due to its strict conditions for customer success and enterprise certifications, this designation marks Digital Boardwalk as a true expert of the Microsoft Cloud.

Our Perspective

Portrait of Devin in a polo and glasses

“I worked for a few other reputable managed IT services providers before joining Digital Boardwalk, and the difference was astonishing. Immediately I could tell how much more mature this company was. For the very first time, I feel confident that what my company is promising its customers is exactly what we are delivering, and then some.”
